A Letter from the Founder & CEO

Kincura was born from the realities of caregiving.

After a loss in the family, I suddenly found myself stepping in to fill a caregiving role without any roadmap for how to make it work. I was overwhelmed with the disparate pieces of information, the lack of any visibility into my care recipient's financial affairs and no easy way to obtain information — let alone organize it.

This was all happening while my care recipient's living situation had become untenable and a move to assisted living couldn't wait. Decisions needed to be made about where to live, what was affordable, and how to find the necessary documents to even complete an application. Medical care was a constant stream of new appointments, changing medications and siloed care instructions.

All of this required urgent attention and somehow needed to fit in an already full life as someone in the sandwich generation — with a spouse, kids at home and a career to manage.

I built Kincura to create a centralized place to organize the administrative pieces I was uncovering. I needed to ensure I had the right documents, updated to reflect the current situation and in a secure, accessible place for reference. Getting my arms around my care recipient's financial picture was critical in order to determine what type of living arrangement was feasible now and in the future. Deadlines for tax filings and bill paying didn't stop just because it was inconvenient. I needed to understand which doctor was prescribing what, and be able to accurately describe my care recipient's full health picture (medications, conditions, and history) when speaking with any provider.

I also knew there were others who wanted to help, but needed a means to plug in. I wanted the information I was centralizing to be accessible to other family members who wanted to contribute. Shared calendars, assignable tasks, and a go-to reference for information lessened the coordination burden of collaborative care.

Kincura works to bring that clarity and structure to the administrative side of caregiving. While no solution can make the essential role of caregiving seamless, Kincura can hopefully bring some peace of mind when navigating a real-world system that can, at times, seem endlessly dynamic and overwhelming.
